Special: Operation in a DMZ (Demilitarized Zone)

lexiCan +WEB can also be operated in a DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). The installation remains unaffected, but additional settings in the IIS Manager are required.

In order for lexiCan +WEB to communicate with the lexiCan server, an authorized network connection between the two is required. Such a connection cannot be established at first because a firewall prohibits this. To establish the connection, the Identity of the application pool installed by +WEB has to be changed to a user-defined account.

Proceed as follows:

(1) Start the IIS Manager on your server, select Application Pools on the left.

(2) Select lexiCan AppPool from the list and click on Advanced Settings on the right hand side.

(3) In the following dialog box, select ‘Identity’ and click on the small button at the end of the line.

A further dialog box opens in which you can switch from the basic setting ‘Buit-in Account’ to ‘Custom account’. Click on ‘Set...’.

Via another dialogue box you can define a user account with password which is part of the user account management on the servers on both sides of the firewall.

Confirm all changes via ‘OK’.

Now the application pool is operated by the defined user account which ensures communication through the firewall.
